A mother of a 21yo and a 25yo, my architectural career has been woven with family life. I completed my BARCH in 2006 after 10 non-consecutive years. In the time I was a student I also worked in an interior architecture firm in Cambridge MA and then a high-end residential firm on Martha's Vineyard Island. My daughter's arrival in 2000 gave me a great reason to open my first little office Williams Design Studio, handling small residential projects. My son's arrival had me taking my final thesis with an infant in tow. My thesis explored multiple intelligence theory and how various intelligence profiles experience architecture. The thesis lead me to ANFA. Covid allowed me to attend my first conference on-line, then in 2022, I attended the ANFA Bootcamp in San Diego. At this time I was changing my practice to focus on modern, sustainable and well-being. When my oldest left for college, I sat and passed my exams, then passed my WELL AP exam. I relaunched my business as Sail Architects around that time and recently started a foundation that will bring well-being and sustainable design to affordable housing. It has been an incredible journey and I am thrilled to continue it with the Moving Boundaries team in Japan.
