Lighting Designer, PhD. Student
Bergamo, Italy

A recipient of the 40 Under 40 award, in 2020, Martina is a lighting designer and a current Ph.D. student in Architecture and Design Cultures at the University of Bologna. Her work focuses on the balance between comfort and aesthetics on the built environment and on applying the fundamental principles of neuroarchitecture to architectural education.
Her independent research, “A Beautiful Light,” has taken her to ten different countries in search of the concept of restorative beauty. This investigation gave rise to “The Beauty Movement,” a think tank dedicated to studying and raising awareness of the power and importance of aesthetic experiences in the built environment.
