Monika Codourey

Dr. Monika Codourey is a transformation architect, design researcher, and strategic innovation leader working at the intersection of space, technology, and human experience. At the Swiss Center for Design and Health (www.scdh.ch), she leads the Living Lab and serves on the extended executive board, shaping applied research and strategic development for future-ready healthcare, learning, and work environments. She collaborates with academic and industry partners to develop offerings that enable organizations to innovate. In the Living Lab, she and her team develop platforms that allow stakeholders to experience and evaluate spaces at full scale through testing and simulation before construction.

Her transdisciplinary PhD spans architecture, digital technologies, psychology, and cultural mobility studies, shaping her approach to designing complex systems. She examined how spatial configurations, digital technologies, and human interactions influence perception, behavior, and well-being in complex environments.

Monika has more than a decade of professional experience in healthcare and workplace strategy, combining design practice with evidence-based approaches and active stakeholder engagement. She has worked in architectural offices in Vancouver, Berlin, and Zurich, and has taught at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and served as a guest lecturer at other universities, linking research, design, and practice. She studied architecture at the University of British Columbia in Canada and completed her postgraduate studies at ETH Zurich.
