Foteini Kyriakidou

Architect, Lighting Designer and Lecturer at KTH
Stockholm, Sweden

I am the program director, course responsible and examiner at the Architectural Lighting Design Master Program at KTH, Stockholm Sweden.

As a lecturer and tutor, I have been teaching students with practical and theoretical topics regarding light and lighting since 2019 within KTH but also as a guest speaker at Portsmouth School of Architecture, Kansas State University and AAU Department of Architecture- Design and Media Technology.

Additionally, I have managed the organization of the Light Symposium 2023 with the special topic "Architecture Lighting Environments: Space with(out) Light".

During 2020-2021, I have participated at the Erasmus+ research program Light4Health as one of the work packages coordinator.

Before transitioning into academia and teaching for 12 years, I worked as an architect and lighting designer, managing large-scale public realm projects in Qatar and medium-scale indoor and outdoor projects in Greece.

My experience in design’s application and construction as well as my personal interest in developing educational methods for lighting design lead me to consider light to be an immaterial material with spatial and cultural extensions, acknowledging also its psychological impact on humans.
