Brian Feagans

Architect, Strategic Design Advisor
Bangalore, India

In a world where disconnection is at the root of many social, mental, and environmental challenges, Brian asks how design can become a bridge back to what truly matters. He believes the answer lies in creating environments that foster meaningful human connection with our communities, with nature, with beauty, and with ourselves.

Drawing from decades of work in schools, libraries, mental health spaces, and cultural projects around the globe, Brian explores how neuroscience, environmental psychology, biophilia, and biomimicry can be woven into the fabric of design to improve health, vitality, and belonging. From a K–8 charter school that measures success through love and belonging, to an arts pavilion inspired by a single shade tree, to mental health spaces that restore children’s sense of safety and joy, his stories reveal how places can heal and inspire.

Brian’s work spans continents and scales, from furniture and prototype classrooms to campus master plans. He has designed libraries, schools, and mental health facilities; co-founded and managed a K–8 school; and developed cultural ethnography tools to help communities co-create transformational spaces. His career has been guided by a deep curiosity about life, leading him to explore how environments can support human and ecological health.

A graduate of UC Berkeley and the University of Illinois, Brian has also completed executive training in sustainability leadership at Harvard. Since 2014, he has lived in Bangalore, India, continuing to integrate global insights, local culture, and a love for both forests and vibrant cities into his practice.
