Disha Singh is an architect and an academic whose work spans architectural history, heritage, and sustainability. Currently a PhD Scholar at CEPT University, India, her research examines architectural production in Chandigarh during the 1950s and 60s, by uncovering layered narratives and negotiations within its educational institutions. In 2025, she was accepted into the Doctoral Research Residency Program at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal.
Disha’s academic foundation includes a degree in Architecture from the Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA), India, and an M.Sc. in Sustainable Building Technology from the University of Nottingham, UK. Her professional background is diverse, ranging from almost seven years as an Assistant Professor at the CCA, teaching History of the Built Environment and Sustainable Design, to serving as a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). During her tenure at CSE, she co-authored publications such as ‘Good News & Bad News’ (2013) and ‘Building Sense – Beyond the Green Façade’ (2014), focusing on sustainable buildings and mobility.
Her career is marked by her active involvement in architectural events, curation, and public engagements. She has played a key role in organising international symposia, including the ‘Legacy of Le Corbusier: 50 Years After The Master’ (2015) and the ‘Pierre Jeanneret Symposium’ (2017), and curated the RIBA 2018 President’s Medal Exhibition during its Chandigarh tour. In 2016, she was appointed by the Indian government to guide the Prime Minister of India and the President of France through Chandigarh’s landmark architectural sites. Additionally, between 2018 and 2020, Disha contributed to several high-profile consultancy projects for various Indian Ministries and the Chandigarh Administration.
