Lúcia Vaz Pato

Architect

Lúcia is a Portuguese architect with a multidisciplinary approach to architecture and interior design based on evidence-based design.

She graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, studied at ETSAB - Barcelona School of Architecture, under the ERASMUS Program and was a post-graduate Research Fellow at IST in the “Learning Environments” project.

She participated in Neuroscience for Architecture: Design, Scientific Evidence and Applications from NeuroAU and the Moving Boundaries courses “MB Nordic X” (Sweden & Finland) and “MB Amares” (Portugal).

From 2011 to 2017, she lived in Rio de Janeiro and worked as an architect for the renowned Brazilian director and set designer Bia Lessa, designing several museums and exhibition.

In her private practice, some of the highlight are projects for the POÇAS Winery and the Swiss watch’s brand CAUNY, developing interior and lighting design projects, furniture design, and branding strategies. Her projects also encompass interior renovation in listed buildings and heritage sights.

Currently, she serves on the board and as architect and coordinator at the non-profit organization CAuSA, where she leads the conception, development, and implementation of evidence-based design projects for seniors’ homes, coordinating multidisciplinary teams - The pilot project, “Dar Cor” (Assigning Color) was co-financed by the BPI La Caixa Senior Prize (2023), and the ongoing “Percursos de Cor” (Paths of Color), co-financed by Portugal 2030 through Portugal Inovação Social 2030, promotes wellbeing through an interdisciplinary methodology.
