Linda Kafka is a recognized authority in the interior design sector in North America. She serves as a bridge between science and the interior design industry, bringing insights from neuroscience and environmental psychology into practical application for the built environment.
Throughout her career, Linda has focused on human behaviour and how people respond to design elements, first through the lens of marketing and later through interior design. That foundation naturally led her to NeuroDesign and to a deeper exploration of how environments influence emotion, perception, and human experience. She was an early voice in bringing neuroaesthetics into the interior design conversation, creating educational programming that helped introduce these ideas to the trade.
Her perspective is grounded in the belief that design should respond not only to function and aesthetics, but also to the non-conscious ways people experience space through the body and nervous system. She is especially interested in the emotional connection people form with place and in helping design professionals create environments that feel as good as they look.
Linda is the creator of the NeuroDesign Academy, an educational platform developed to bring science-based design knowledge to the trade. She is WELL AP, previously served on the Board of Directors for Interior Designers of Canada, currently sits on the board of The Human Architecture and Planning Institute (HAPI), and earlier in her career created and directed Canada’s first design centre for the trade.
